My Brute – RedeemedSoul

May 12th, 2009 Ricardo V 1 comment

So recently I stubled across this new flash based game called My Brute. I was over at a fellow internet entrepreneur’s blog Tyler Cruz and read about My Brute. MyBrute is a Flash game where two animated characters fight each other in an arena.

My Brute has a completely random, hands off fight sequence. You simply choose who you want to fight and the computer fights for you, in 20-30 second fights. “You can just sit back and watch as the fight unfolds. There are no controls, there is no ability to dictate tactics ahead of time. Your character may pull out their weapon (if they have one), but you have no idea which weapon they may use, or if they throw it. Sometimes it is frustrating to watch your fighter charge headlong into their opponent’s spear, swinging their fists like a pissed-off toddler. However, it is pretty satisfying when you are almost dead and then dodge your opponent’s attacks before putting them down for a dirt nap.”

The game has undergone exponential viral growth. Much of the growth is focused on getting people to sign up at your link (redeemedsoul.mybrute.com) to gain experience. Hence the reason why the game has gone viral so fast. Tyler does a good job explaining how fast it has grown and how it could be better monetized here.

I wont get into all the nitty gritty details but will ask you to Check Out My Brute. The game is highly addictive, the only draw back is you are only allotted 3 fights per day. 2 experience for a win and 1 experience for a loss. Max xp gained = 6 while Min xp gained = 3, for any given day. Because of this you sort of need to recruit “pupils” to join(viral effect) to gain levels and progress in the game. As you sign up pupils, 2xp every sign up, they begin to fight and interact as well. As your pupils begin to level up it gives you experience points as well.

The first day you join you will be able to fight 6 people then 3 people every day after that. If you want to register, please visit my link http://redeemedsoul.mybrute.com . My Brute doesn’t collect any personal information from your computer or name/email address. It’s free to join, and you have nothing to lose.

The Bubbly Personality of Bubble Tea

Today we talk Bubble Tea also known as Boba Tea. Never heard of this well known Asian ancestor? That could be because it is not quite popular just yet. In fact, it has only been around since the 1980’s, originating in Taiwan. I have been drinking bubble tea for many years, but only knew of one location that sold it and that location happened to be in a predominately Asian neighborhood.

So what is the stuff, and why are so many people downing it? Bubble tea starts off as either a green or black tea. Traditionally, milk is then added to the tea or kept plain, and shaken vigorously until bubbles form. However, most teas prepared this way are now made with large tapioca pearls which are considered the “bubbles” in bubble tea. You literally have to chew the pearls a bit, which for many is an odd thing to do.

Since bubble tea has been around for so long, and is becoming more modernized, new and innovative techniques are being incorporated to the final product. For instance, I was recently in my local mall and saw a small shop selling bubble tea, my heart skipped a beat since I didn’t expect to ever see such a culturally based treat end up in my local mall! I immediately stopped in my tracks and checked out the now elaborate menu of beverages. What happened to freshly brewed, chilled green tea with some pearls at the bottom!? Now one can find mango flavored tea, strawberry, papaya, ginger, Thai tea, durian, and much more. I decided to forgo one of the crazy fruity flavors for the classic green tea. However, a few months later I did try the mango, and was rather disappointed. It was extremely sweet, and milky, something I am not used to.

Being the nutrition and health advocate that runs through my veins, I also did some research to find out how the nutritional and caloric content of bubble tea stacks up. Well bubble tea lovers; you may not want to read the following. Instead, just know you may want to stick to drinking bubble tea as a “Once in a while treat.” Plain bubble tea (green tea with no milk and 1-2 ounces of pearls) has about 120-300 calories. The wide range in calories is that every shop places between 1 and 3 ounces of pearls, and these pearls are simply a slightly sweetened starch, aka, calories. But do not disarray! Without adding sweetener, milk, or flavoring a small Boba can rank in with as little as 200 calories with nearly no fat. Plus, when you do not add milk you enable the healthful antioxidants from the green or even black tea to aid in digestion, cell rejuvenation, stave off hunger, and detoxify the body.

As an after dinner treat once in a while it is a great idea. I recommend trying the plain bubble tea before trying a flavored one. This way you can begin enjoying it as it traditionally is made. Once milk and flavoring (usually the flavoring is in a higher calorie powered form since fresh fruit blends are very rare) you are looking at anywhere between 500 and 700 calories depending on the size. That my friend is just like eating an ice-cream sundae!

Bubble tea is wonderful, good for you when chosen wisely, diet friendly in moderate moderation (I.e. no more than 2 times per week), and a classic tradition. I am a regular tea drinker of all sorts, perhaps I will post pictures of my collection one week, but bubble tea is a special treat that ranks in my top five favorite teas. Get one step closer to a completely rich lifestyle by making better food choices, and help your body out with antioxidant rich tea, by tracking down your own bubble tea shop near by.

They’ll be slowly working their way at a shop near you, take my word for it!

AYTTF: Vision and Mission Statement

Are You Trying To Fail: Lack of Vision/Mission Statement

If you plan to start a successful project you without a doubt have thought about writing a vision or mission statement. They are essential pieces to any business, either for profit or non profits. I am going to explain why any and all business should have a vision and mission statement.

  • First of all you need a vision and mission statement for financial purposes.

If you are running a non-profit a vision and mission statement is part of your grant proposal. A grant proposal is a solicitation to the government for a cash donation to help fund your endeavors. 99% of the times a grant proposal will ask for a budget, details about the money and where it is spent, and last but not least what your company is about. Your company’s about me page is your vision, mission, and values statement.
If you have a for profit corporation or even small business/sole proprietorship you will need a vision and mission statement as well. For profit companies all require a business plan/portfolio when applying for a loan. When going to the bank for a loan your business plan/portfolio will include the vision/mission statement even if it isn’t headed as one. You will undoubtedly explain what your business is about and what you plan to do with the money. Which can be reworded into a mission and vision in 5 minutes.

Secondly, when you begin to hire and train employees you will need to create guidelines and rules for the employees. The employees should have a sense of belonging within the company and help work towards the end goal of the company(vision). The employee will be striving for the vision through the mission statement.

  •    Creating a vision and mission statement really isn’t as hard as some may think.

      Mission Statement 1- Company’s Purpose
      Mission Statement 2- Company’s Product
      Mission Statement 3- Company’s Objectives
      Vision Statement 1- End Goals
Vision Statement 2- Hopes to Become
      Vision Statement 3- Realistic Aspirations

Now you know why you need the vision and mission statement. I hope this also helps in your first steps towards creating your vision and mission statement.

So now ask yourself, Are You TRYING to Fail?
