    Meditation – Atmosphere and Music

  • It is not difficult to realize that meditation should be done in a comfortable setting. Being in a comfortable, quiet, relaxing setting puts you in the mood to meditate. Building an atmosphere of no stress, coupled with music can actually be a very relaxing and healing process for your mind and body. People meditate for many different reasons, and Here are a few of those reasons: enhance blood flow which enhances chi circulation, enhance breathing, calm the mind, draw in natural energy, reduce stress, etc.
  • Atmosphere
Should be well lit, with natural sunlight if possible.
Should be in a quiet setting, away from noisy electronics
Can be indoors or outdoors – depending on the season and the range of natural beauty you live in will decide your choice
Don’t let living in a city stop you from meditating, even if you need to drive to a park – sit on a park bench by yourself and focus on the nature which is surrounding
Set the mood with candles, incense, water falls ($20 you can buy a small water fall about 10 inches tall, more of a mini fountain)
  • Music
The music you use when meditating is an expression of yourself, yes, but at the same time you should try to avoid loud noises which may startle you. Also anything with too many lyrics which could make your mind sway into the song. Personally, I find that eliminates about 75% of the music – so I already know no rock, rap, country, techno, trance, house, pop, dance, etc.
I tend to stick with a meditation cd, a chakra building cd which helps bring in natural energy, a few chanting and deep breathing cds, I have also enjoyed the rainforest cds. I personally use the following two cd’s when introducing them to friends and family, they are Music for Zen Meditation and Chakra Suite.
    **Highly Recommended**

I listen to these two cd’s at least once a month, they truly are unique within the on the market. If you want to begin relaxing and taking control of your stress these cds will help you get started.

Sunny Sunday: Power of Accepting Others

The Completely Rich Lifestyle: Accepting Others

There are times when we simply need to let things go. Have you ever encountered a time when you did not get something you wanted from someone else, and therefore acted out because of it? Generally, we tend to ask for a favor or opinion with an answer we would like to hear already in mind. The moment the opinion or favor that you have asked for isn’t as you planned in your mind you become flustered. Suddenly we find ourselves lashing out or complaining. Nine times out of ten it is something rather silly on top of it. Sometimes this one moment of our day can format what the rest of the day will be like as well.

It is times like these when we need to obtain a clear mind the most. Yet, it is times like these when obtaining a clear mind is the most difficult. Whether instances like these occur between your boss, your significant other, your children, your parents, the department store sales attendant, your friend or anyone else we dive into asking questions with a pre notion of what we would like to hear in return. What we need to remember is that we are asking for an opinion in order to get one. For instance if you already know what you want to eat for dinner then why bother asking? Why not suggest what you are in the mood for, and go from there? Or if you need help cleaning your car then why not say so? Instead of asking “Will you help me clean the car later?”, explain that you simply cannot do it alone, and anytime during the weekend would work. Or be prepared to accept the fact that the other person may be busy, tired or simply not want to. Believe it or not these are all acceptable reasons whether or not you think they are. Overall, if you already know that you sincerely need help cleaning the car then say so otherwise you will find yourself diving into a stressful relationship with the other person as well as a stressful lifestyle.

A stressful lifestyle leaves us feeling unhappy, and a major cause of this is when we do not get the response we had hoped for. A few of the many things that can happen between yourself and the other person are a change in attitude toward the other person, an argument, the cold shoulder, and unnecessary negative energy placed into a shared atmosphere. In order to reduce arguments, and obtain a clear mind at home we have to take certain measures. As always, by taking certain precautions or changing the way you think you are one step closer to living a completely rich lifestyle.

You must prepare, and accept others in your life. You will not always get the response you hoped for, but we must learn to expect whatever it is that comes from another person. Without letting go of pre-connotations we are setting our lives up for stress. We risk not having a clear mind at work, a clear mind at home, and a clear mind in general. We take such drastic measure to alleviate stress from our lives by paying for fancy vacations, drinking extra coffee, going to a spa, and much more, when all we need to do is look into our daily approaches to our own lifestyles to help ease stress. The more accepting we are of our lives and the environment we live in the greater experience we will have with our time on earth. The first step is to clear your mind, change the way you think, try accepting others in your life, and eventually you will be able to live a completely rich lifestyle.

Warmly,

Influence of the Mind: Eastern vs Western Culture

  • I would like to speak about a few subtle differences about eastern and western culture when it comes to the form of external and internal energy. I would also like to speak about the differences in the gym environment and the emphasis of preventative exercise vs reactive exercise.

First and foremost, this is not about politics, religion, or economics. The classification of western vs. eastern culture is a mere generalization of what may be seen, but does not allude to any guarantees of validity.

In my opinion many western cultured individuals are focused on superficial energy. We are set in a reactive exercise habit, and are not exercising to achieve balance within our bodies. We routinely drive to a gym, to physically drain our bodies of any energy it may have had. We run and sprint until we can barely walk, we force our bodies to lift two-five times our own body weight, and generally work out for the sole purpose of appearances. We do not in a sense work out for ourselves, our internal balance and energy, we work out for others to admire, cherish, and loathe us. Now I’m not saying there is anything wrong with that, people will and can do what they want, when they want. The point I’m simply trying to make is there are different ways to do things.

In many eastern cultures exercise is not seen as a past time, but a daily ritual built into culture. Daily exercise is meant to strengthen your mind, internal organs by releasing toxins, and body at the same time. Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation, and Yoga are just a few ways to achieve such balance. By achieving a balance within yourself you will be able to do the western culture thing, but will also feel 100% better doing the eastern and western.

  • Preventative Exercise vs. Reactive Exercise:
Preventative exercise in essence is creating a healthy environment for your body to live in. You routinely try to reach a balance in your life, be it at school, work, lunch, dinner, gym, etc. Reaching a balanced lifestyle allows you to prevent any more serious illnesses which may occur. Seen today more than 65% of Americans are overweight or obese, some at their own fault. I sympathize for these individuals and wish to share my knowledge to help them reach a balanced lifestyle.

Reactive exercise is basically exercising in a reaction to a reason to exercise. You go to the doctor, and he says you need to lose weight, aka your overweight, then you react and exercise. Reactive exercise may fix the problems, but it doesn’t prevent them. Reaching a balanced lifestyle WILL HELP!
