Are You TRYING to Fail?

Every time I start a new project I ask myself “Am I TRYING to Fail”. Failure is emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual. It can be described as a mindset, a result, a heartache, a bankruptcy, and an escape. I mention escape because anyone who has ever truly “succeeded” has failed 100x times before that success.

Failure Quotes:
Barack Obama, our 44th US president, once said “Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. it’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.”

One of the greatest US basketball players ever, Michael Jordan, once said “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”

    10 Reasons Failure Loves You

    success-failure2   1- Lack of Vision/Mission Statement
      2- Lack of Goal Setting
3- Lack of a Proper Schedule
4- Lack of a Business Attitude
      5- Spamming isn’t Advertising
      6- Lack of Resources
      7- Lack of Knowledge
      8- Lack of Time
      9- Lack of Risk
      10- Coping, Submitting, and Rationalizing

Failure as Described by Wikipedia is, “Failure refers to the state or condition of not meeting a desirable or intended objective, and may be viewed as the opposite of success.” When first coined it was meant to express inability to accomplish. Usually related to the context of agriculture and field production or small chores.

Since failure and success are opposites we seem to have a distinct choice between the two. Thus either unintentionally or intentionally we choose whether to fail or succeed, at a task or chore. Don’t you want to make the right choice, as soon as possible?

So now ask yourself, Are You TRYING to Fail?

taichi This post is part of Tai Chi Tuesdays. Click Here if you would like to view more Tai Chi Tuesday posts.

The importance of animals within the ancient philosophy is shown everywhere. Many temples, buddhist and taoist are fitted with statues and engravings of animals and mythical creatures. Qigong has a few choice animals and meanings for these animals as well. Since Qigong and Taiji are instill in Chinese Heritage and culture it was only natural to have several forms and mythologys about these animals.

Hua To (110-207 A.D.)- Chinese Doctor and Creator of the Five Animal Frolics
“Hua To is considered to be the first famous Chinese surgeon and inventor of anesthesia. He was one of the first in history to utilize herbal medicine in his remedies. In addition, he is renowned for creating remedies using simple formulas by mixing only a few herbs.” by thinkquest.org

The Five Animal Frolics in Qigong are:

bear1a Bear – “The Bear is a great winter exercise. Slow, ponderous, but very strong, it warms the body, strengthens the spleen, and builds vitality. The Bear’s twisting waist movements massage and invigorate the kidneys. The Bear is an excellent preventive against osteoporosis, as it is known to fortify the bones.” “The Bear – to develop rooted power. The Bear creates greater leg strength, fortifies the bones and develops energy in the kidneys, your fundamental source of vitality.” “The Bear is the symbol of strength, power, and healing wisdom. In ancient China, the shaman healers wore bear masks and may have imitated the stepping of the bear in ritual dance.”

dear Deer – “The Deer – to develop grace and relaxation. The Deer gives a long stretch to the legs and spine, creating open, expansive movement with very flexible sinew and bones.” As I began researching Deer Frolic Qigong, after being introduced by my instructor I found that it had a very sexual tantra side to it. You can see what I mean – Male Deer Excercise.

April ’09 Traffic Statement

money This post is part of Traffic Statements. Click Here if you would like to view more Traffic Statement posts.

This is the April 2009 NYW traffic statement. The images below are taken directly from my cPanel:

apr09histapr09sum

Traffic for April 2009 – Compared to Best Month

  • Unique Visitors: 2063 – 2041
  • Number of Visits:5096 – 4294
  • Page Views:15952 – 21,750
  • Hits:160918 – 159,816

This month again I took a different approach to my traffic acquisition. I did 0 paid advertising, I slowed down on social networks (except entrecard) and I published no new sources of publication (ezines or press releases). I stopped commenting on many others blogs (backlinks started to drop), and was trying to see how leaving the blogosphere, in theory, would affect traffic. In effect I throttled back all and any type of advertising.

  • Now you may be wondering why did I do this? and did it affect me?
    1. 1- I wanted to see how the site would hold up with 30 days of “no advertising”
2- It affected one main area – my backlinks to NYW – I had about 1,200 backlinks at the end of March. This month my backlink number is down to 700 and continues to fall. (Yes I will be advertising this month!)

I did not see much growth in traffic due to this, did I make a mistake? I don’t think so. I learned what I, personally, need to continue doing to assure Nurture Your Wealth’s success on the web and in the blogosphere.

nurtureyourwealth.com scored 40/100 | Free SEO Tools & Analysis | SpyderMate

My spyder mate is of course lower than last time. Last time I had a 45 score rating of 100, although many fields were empty. Currently my biggest concern to working towards my spyder mate for this site is building back up the backlinks + doing better on compete. I extended the domain name for another 2+ years which helped my score, and with the recent google page rank change I actually got a page 1 page rank.

Top 3 Areas Traffic Came from for April 2009:

#1 – Search Engines (Windows Live/MSN Search had about 55% of the queries – Google and Google images about 25% – others 20%)
    #2 – Entrecard + Twitter (retweets)
    #3 – Viral Marketing ( March’s articles + press releases)

What is the importance of sunshine?

sun This post is part of Sara’s Sunny Sundays. Click Here if you would like to view all of Sara’s Sunny Sunday.

What is the importance of sunshine? Sunshine is more than just light to our planet, although that is of great importance also. Think you only get your vitamins from a food items such as fruits and vegetables? Maybe you are even under the assumption that vitamins come from a bottle. The truth of the matter is that vitamins are most highly absorbable in their purest form. Vitamin-D happens to be found largely abundant in our sun’s rays.

Yes, its true, you can literally sit outside for a short amount of time to obtain your daily requirement of Vitamin-D. What does this vitamin do for us? Vitamin-D helps use to absorb the calcium we get from food items or even supplements which means it helps to prevent against osteoporosis, and overall it aids in keeping our bones strong. There have been dozens of linkages to vitamin-D and its benefits but some of the more common results include, helping to ward of certain cancers like breast, colon, and prostate, prevent nutrient deficiencies such as rickets, and much more. You’ll notice that on most calcium supplements bought at the store, it will also contain Vitamin-D, that’s a two in one double punch! With the economy in the poor shape that it is in, simple savings for our body such as the vitamin-D, calcium, and even magnesium combo are store bought products we need to look for. Just be aware that everyone has a slightly different DRI, which is an abbreviated way of saying “How much you should consume in a 24 hour period.” Be aware that Vitamin-D is a “fat-soluble” vitamin which means that it will not be primarily excreted in the urine. Without urine excretion the supplement stays in our body for a longer period of time, and if more than the required intake is consumed it could be toxic, and at times even deadly. This is extremely high amounts for a prolonged period of time.

To get Vitamin-D from sunshine begin by wearing an SPF/UVA/UVB approved lotion to protect you. When you wear sunscreen it will take slightly longer to absorb vitamin-D, however, you are much better off by protecting your skin from the harmful things the sun can provide. 20 minutes is enough time to absorb Vitamin-D that will show beneficial signs within out bodies. Be aware that if you are of a darker skin decent, less time is needed in the sun, about 10 minutes should be enough.

What else does our sunshine do for us? It wards off depression, loneliness, sadness, and has many other healing properties. By sitting in a well lit room, or spending at least 30 minutes outside each day in the presence of natural sun light, studies have drawn conclusions that the sun light helps to ward of the aliments mentioned above. That is, those who were mildly depressed seemed to have improvement in their mood after 30 days. If that isn’t enough, a Province in France, as well as the state of Washington in America has two of the highest suicidal rates in the world. The reasons?, the weather is, on average, rainy, dark, and gloomy.

Take a moment to enjoy the warmth, the nutrition, and the energy from the sun’s natural light to add to your completely rich life style. Like any major part of our world, the ocean, a snowy mountain, electricity, and the sun, we must respect its power, and natural abilities. Only when we find respect for nature are we able to benefit from all that it has to offer. Well, I’m off to enjoy the morning rays after several days of consistent rain. Hope to see you our there :)

Warmly,
