    Learning the Discipline of Tai Chi through Example

  • If you haven’t heard already, one of the best ways to learn tai chi is through example. Attending classes, watching videos, practicing, reading books and magazines are all ways which help you learn the discipline of tai chi, taiji.
  • Class Participation
      This was my main way to learn about tai chi, and experience it first hand. I had mandated physical education course credits which needed to be completed before I could graduate and I chose Tai Chi. It was one of the best classes I had while attending college, well mine is a university but you get it; (graduating may 09, soo soon!). My professor, Rick Schmoyer, teaches at many different universities, and has personally traveled to the birth place of chen style tai chi, the chen village. His private practice website is chineseqigongcenter.com .
      With that said I cannot stress enough the importance of getting to a class. Not only do you learn and practice the many different forms of tai chi, you also exercise and build stamina and flexibility through your warm up exercises.
