WordPress Search Engine Friendliness

As I began to update my other blogs (an ongoing process which was started about 2 weeks ago) I began to look at three main things:

1. Website Loading Speeds vs Size of Site

2. Visitor Ease of Use – Easy Blogging Simplified with Wibiya

3. Search Engine Friendliness

Looking at a blog’s search engine friendliness is perhaps one of the best and worst aspects of building a blog. On one hand it’s the best because a job well done will officially cement your blog and future into a high page rank. Likewise on the other hand if you have poor SEO development within your blog your content goes unseen and blogging becomes less enjoyable. Below I will explain a few natural and easy to implement tips to help SEO your WordPress Blog.

  • 1. Start with a good domain name

This is very simple and often overlooked (I mean look at “nurtureyourwealth” lol). The domain has to be easy to remember, brandable, and most importantly related to your niche (unless your using your name for attraction marketing). If your building a niche blog it may just be a good idea to get a domain name related to your niche.
  • 2. Activate a SEO friendly wordpress theme

Try to get a theme that reflects your niche and has proper sidebars to harness your end users experience. A well maintained footer with essential links will also help build your keywords. Try to keep tags and keywords relevant to the theme of your blog so the keywords can have more authority.
  • 3. Download SEO WordPress Plugins

Helpful SEO plugins include “All-in-one-seo”, “Google XML Sitemaps”, “SEO Slugs”, “SEO Smart Links”, and “Platinum SEO Pack”. These plugins will make your meta tags and titles shine through to search engine spiders when they index your blog’s content.

Of course those aren’t the only things you can do but they are a solid start to get started. I just started a new niche site, it’s seasonal but I have a few months left to build up backlinks and traffic to it – am keeping a detailed journal which will be published sometime this upcoming month for progress purposes.
